I Was Doxed By A Troll Today
And it really pissed me off, but not why you might think.
Today was a new experience for me. I had personal information (my address and phone number) posted online during an interaction with a troll.
I have been online for a long time, and I have pretty thick skin. I actually consider myself an amateur troll hunter for a good sized private group on Facebook. The admin loves that I can “poke the bear” so well and get unstable people to show themselves so they can be weeded from the group.
My Technique
I am an active member of the group and stay within the good graces of the mods and admins. I contribute a lot to the site, and bring a bunch of humor as well.
Every so often I will post a hot issue that I know will have two sides and sit back and wait for someone to say something stupid when they get worked up. Then I respond with a funny GIF. I don’t personally attack anyone but will respond to idiocy that comes out of some people.
Todays Drama
Today I posted a meme that evoked hundreds of likes and several comments degredating the OP (me). I don’t know why people have to go into attack mode when they disagree with someone, but people who escalate quickly are the ones we try to keep a lid on.
