Four things I should have done better
Anyone coming into Medium cold is bound to make some mistakes.
I have been freelancing part time for over five years, and with the social distancing going on I found myself with more time to write. So I started searching for new markets for my writing.
An internet search turned up Medium. I had never heard of it before and quickly became intrigued, thinking it might be similar to the old Helium platform I had written on in the past.
While any similarity to Helium is only vague, I was hooked after reading about Medium.
I decided to sign up and write for free instead of paying for a membership because I am cheap, and I like to do things the hard way. This led me to making a few mistakes that I feel held me back in my first month on the platform.
Maybe I can keep you from making the same mistakes I did, and give you a little boost over where I was at the beginning.
I Didn’t Become a Member Right Away
The first (and biggest) mistake I made was right out of the blocks. I didn’t join Medium as a member.
